Ideas for February half term days out with the kids

February is upon us, so if you’re looking for some inspiration for things to do with the family over half term, look no further.

From theme parks and arts festivals to history and getting one with nature, February is the season when doors open after a January break, lambs start to appear, and the weather can be very sketchy… but that doesn’t mean the fun needs to stop!

So whether you have thrill-seekers, nature-lovers, future astronauts, superheroes, mini historians, or all of the above, here is my top lineup for ideas for February Half Term!

Twin Lakes is celebrating their double decade anniversary, offering all paying guests a FREE return ticket to use at either Twinlakes or their sister park Wheelgate, Mansfield, valid until Thursday 30th March! What’s more, there’s also a deal for twins too!

To claim, purchase a full-priced ticket online, or at the gate and receive a free return ticket at a 1:1 ratio for every full-priced paying customer upon entry to the park!

The Spark Arts Festival is an incredible event hosted in Leicester every year, helping children of all ages immerse themselves in arts, whether that be painting, expression, music or more. We’ve been to several events over the years with the Spark Arts Festival and know how inclusive, fun and special they are!

From art and dance, through to printmaking and performances, the activities take place in various locations around Leicester, from libraries to the Curve – so take a look at the lineup here for more.

West Lodge Farm Park – find out more here

We are huge fans of West Lodge Farm Park, and love all the events they put on, whatever the weather. We are super excited to come back this half term to check out their Lambing Festival.

With the chance to get up close to the newborn lambs, get involved with bottle feeding the newborns, and enjoy all the other fun on the farm, as well as their fantastic indoor play area, this is really one not to miss!

Bluebell Dairy – find out more here

Join Bluebell Dairy this half term for their Farm Academy. Activities include Highland Cow grooming, sheep shearing, egg collecting and more, to collect stickers along the way and become a 2023 Future Farmer!

Another favourite place of Lily’s is the National Forest Adventure Farm, and another place who we know puts on fantastic events, all year round.

This February half term sees their New Life on the Farm event, where you can meet their newborn lambs, feed the lambs, get involved with farm-related activities, make a scarecrow and more!

Alton Towers Pirate Takeover – find out more here

For something a little different, head to the National Space Centre for their interactive Earth Observation event for an out of this world half term experience.

Find out more about Earth Observation and how this can help us protect our planet.

Understand how satellites work and what they do to monitor our planet. Take part in hands on activities exploring the benefits of satellites in our everyday life.

You can also take part in drop-in activities such as: fishing for our future, sustainable circuits and join us for an interactive talk about Earth observation.  

This is a family friendly half term of activities which aims to inspire children, families and communities about our home planet, sustainability and STEM activities.

For something very different, head to Snowdome Tamworth and check out their real snow fun! You’ve something for all ages, whether you’re looking to escape the weather, get your snow legs set for an upcoming ski trip, or just do something active!

There’s ski and snowboard lessons, tobogganing, a snow fun park, ice-skating, climbing wall, tubing and more. With sessions for under 4s and over 4s across the SnowDome, there’s really something for all the family to enjoy playing in the real snow!

We’re huge fans of Boost Trampoline Park, but they’re definitely one of our go-to places during the holidays too. We may rep for Boost Trampoline Parks, but it has always been one of Lily’s favourite places to head, whatever the weather!

There are family-friendly sessions throughout the day, a cafe to enjoy a snack and drink, a small soft-play for under 4s, and even a Jurassic Trampoline Park event for those who want something a little different!

Warwick Castle is hosting a Festival of Archery this February Half Term.

If you’re keen to learn about history, in the grounds of a real medieval castle, you can enjoy a fantastic live show, with arrows being fired and even feel the heat of the flaming arrows! There are guides to help you learn more and even the chance to try out archery for yourselves (extra costs), but for something very different this Half Term, don’t miss out!

You can even stay in their wooden lodges for a special medieval sleepover – something that’s definitely on my to do list this year!

Have you guessed how excited we are about the lambs this half term? Manor Farm Park has a fantastic setup for families, so not only can you meet the newborn lambs you can also get involved in a whole host of other activities.

From feeding the animals to exploring their dinosaur trail and even heading through the woodlands into their awesome play area, there really is so much to do here. Just don’t miss out on the owls – so many beautiful birds, and even your chance to hold one too!

What’s more, there’s even a huge indoor play area if the weather gets bad, and some lovely places for a coffee too!
